After the first Crowds rehearsal with percussionist Colin and bass clarinetist Austin, the music continued into the kitchen. One antique guitar accompanied a host of cookery and cabinets. Try and pick out the sounds.
We are pleased to introduce you to CROWDS
HOW THE BAND CAME TO BE: While playing in multiple bands over the last year, the core of CROWDS (Kristofer Towne Hams, Michael Alan Hams, Adam J. Jacobs, and Bobby T. Garrity) started planning this new group on their way back from SXSW music festival in March of 2012.
The idea was simple; write and record as many songs as we could! Hone in on a hard-driving sound [edgy riffs and heavy funk foundations], but with a soulful and psychedelic side to the arrangements. Add some horns and percussion to fill it out, make sure everybody’s moving!
25 demo recordings later the band has found it’s stride, and we are ready to hit the road and share it with you.
Debut performances include Los Angeles CA [3/16/13 at Mbar], Tijuana MX [4/27/13] , San Diego CA [4/29/13] Leon MX, Mexico City MX [5/17/13], Las Vegas NV, Phoenix AZ and more.
HOW WE MET: St. Cloud, Minnesota, sometime between 1982 and 2000…
Kris met Mike because they’re brothers. Adam met Kris because their parents were best friends, and they were forced to grow up together [there’s a bathtub picture out there somewhere]. Mike met Adam because their parents were also best friends, and Mike was Kris’ brother. Bob met Adam in grade school religion class, and they’ve been arguing about God ever since. Kris met Bob because he was best friends with Adam, and Adam said Bob had a 12 string guitar. Kris broke Bob’s 12 string guitar, which he still hasn’t paid for. Mike met Bob because Bob was now playing music with Kris and Adam, in addition to the fact that both Mike and Bob happened to be in love with the same girl. All of that is true.
